Robin Hood month in May Get set for plenty of Robin Hood activities in May when the new blockbuster is released starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett. There’ll be major Robin Hood events taking place across the county including Nottingham Castle and Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve. And you'll even be able to experience a childrens festival and a movie festival dedicated to the world’s most famous outlaw. Along with archery, Robin’s preferred means of self defence, you'll also have the chance to enjoy a special Robin Hood beer. AN EXCLUSIVE LOOK BEHIND THE SCENES OF ROBIN HOOD - THE MOVIE Two new exhibitions give an exclusive look at the props and costumes from the new blockbuster movie. At Nottingham Castle the exhibition has been specially designed and built by the film's set designer, Sonja Klaus. It showcases original props, authentic set pieces and exclusive behind-the-scenes memorabilia from the film. At Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve, you'll see actual props and furniture used in the film set in a medieval encampment deep in the forest. For the ideal photo opportunity there is also a set of stocks and life-size cut-outs of characters from the film.
Robin Hood Pageant October 2010, Nottingham Castle - Nottingham Castle has become synonymous with Robin Hood and the medieval stories of the legend. This unique annual event creates an atmosphere of a time long past. Relive the life and times of the legend of Robin Hood and his arch enemy the Sheriff of Nottingham. For one weekend, the castle green comes alive with action. The outlaws and Sheriff's men come to blows, on and off horseback. Wander through the grounds, and experience what life was like in a medieval encampment. See the artisans at work, be enthralled by jesters, wandering minstrels, storytellers and actors - or even test your skills at archery. Adults £6, children / concessions £4, family ticket £16 (two adults plus three children) and under 4's go free Annual Robin Hood Festival tbc July/August 2010, Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve - around 75,000 visitors annually descend on Sherwood Forest to experience the Robin Hood Festival. Each year the event grows in size, with people travelling from near and far to enjoy the fun packed programme. It's a week long celebration of the life and times of the world's most famous outlaw - Robin Hood. It also features jesters, jousters, music and children's theatre, strolling players, costumed characters and, of course, bold outlaws.
